Woodland Management
Woodlands are an essential part of our landscape, offering unique and diverse habitats for a huge variety of flora and fauna, including birds, mammals, invertebrates, reptiles, lichens, fungi and of course... trees. The latter are known to be an important ally in our fight against climate change, helping to sequester carbon, protect soils, and support complex ecosystems of their own.
Over the years, we have been involved with numerous woodland projects, from the clear felling of overstood, diseased plantations, through to the design and replanting of new ones. A particular area that we specialise in is the ancient practice of coppicing.
Though many of our woodlands have now become neglected, we believe that there are huge benefits from restoring these historically worked woodlands back to their former glory. Not only can one field a sustainable supply of woodland products (thatching spars, hedge laying stakes/binders, firewood, charcoal etc), but in doing so, it will encourage vast biodiversity into that area
